Environment

Battery Park City is a safe, picturesque neighborhood with child-friendly parks, playgrounds, and walkways.  Our enrollment is a reflection of the ethnic and cultural diversity present in Downtown Manhattan.  Although most families walk to the Nursery, approximately 25% travel into Battery Park City from other parts of the City and New Jersey.  Experienced, bilingual teachers help children whose first language is not English, feel comfortable and thrive.

The Nursery has seven, bright, sunny classrooms all located on the ground floor.  A private, enclosed backyard playground is equipped with a climber, a playhouse, tricycles and large-muscle learning toys.

Similar aged children are grouped together in a classroom.  Children under two years old (toddlers) are in a room with 10 children and 3 teachers.  Children aged 3 & 4 (preschoolers) are in a room with 15 children and 3 teachers.  Our pre-k classroom (4 – 5 year olds) has 20 children with 3 teachers.
